Between now and mid-May, three trout stockings will be done in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries. Designated Trout Stocked Waters along Chopawamsic Creek below Breckinridge Reservoir and at Secon Pool will be stocked. Approximately 1,100 rainbow, brown or brook trout are stocked each time.
Fishing dates, times and creel limits established by the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries will be enforced. Use of more than one rod or one line by any person is prohibited while fishing in waters stocked with trout. If using an artificial lure, a treble hook is permitted; otherwise, only a single hook is permitted on a line.
Trout fishing in the section of middle branch, Chopawamsic Creek, at Secon Pool, marked for underage fishing, will be limited to fishing by persons 12 years of age and under. Anyone over the age of 12 caught fishing in these waters may have their fishing privileges suspended for a period of up to one year.
Fishing License Requirements
· Anglers age 16 and older fishing these waters must have in their possession a Virginia trout license and a Virginia freshwater fishing license per Virginia fishing regulations.
· Anglers 16-64 years of age, inclusive, must also possess a Marine Corps Base, Quantico fishing license.
· Marine Corps Base, Quantico fishing licenses are currently sold at the Sporting Goods Counter in the Marine Corps Exchange.
· The annual (January 1 – December 31) Base fishing license costs $10.00. Persons 15 years of age or younger, 65 years of age or older, or having a permanent disability are not required to buy a Base fishing license.
Stocking dates are not announced in advance, but are posted after stocking.
