MCB QUANTICO,Va. (Feb. 19) -- The Navy Marine Corps Relief Society is set to launch its annual Active Duty Fund Drive with a Kick-Off Event on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. at the Clubs at Quantico. This year’s drive will occur between March 2 and April 3 and include training, education and outreach to more than 8,000 active-duty Marines and Sailors assigned to Marine Corps Base Quantico.

The NMCRS was founded in 1904 for the sole purpose of providing direct assistance to active-duty Marines and Sailors, and their families. The Society, operating in partnership with the Navy and Marine Corps, administers nearly 250 offices ashore and afloat at Navy and Marine Corps bases around the world. Last year NMCRS disbursed more than $44,200,000 in loans, grants and educational services worldwide. The NMCRS is funded exclusively through charitable donations and is supported by more than 3,400 volunteers and staff.

Last year, the Quantico office disbursed $591,000 in loans and grants to local Marines and Sailors. Additionally, they provided 45 layettes to parents with newborns, financial counseling for 626 Marines and Sailors and coordinated 2,600 nursing visits for Wounded Warriors, families and new parents.
